This week on "The State of Ohio": State lawmakers consider what they can do in the wake of the horrible and yet miraculous escape story out of Cleveland involving three women held prisoner in a house for a decade. New data shows more than half of all violent crimes are committed by a very small numbers of offenders. Lawmakers are now working to target that tiny group. Almost all state legislators want to change an abuser registry listing the
names of Ohioans found guilty of neglecting, stealing from or abusing individuals
with mental retardation or some sort of developmental disability. Legislators
want to add the accused, certain people who couldn’t be found guilty, mainly
because their victims couldn’t defend themselves in court. Ohio Public Radio’s
Jeannie Vanasco visited a group home to look into the issue.
