A coalition of welfare rights groups and domestic violence activists are pushing for lawmakers to set guidelines for counties to deal with spousal and parental abuse in low-income families. Martha Zinn of the Ohio Empowerment Coalition says the bill would require more screening of families and training of workers, but not more money. A spokesman for the state welfare department says it hasn't had a chance to look over the possible financial impact of the bill, so he couldn't comment on it. |
