Order Online : "The State of Ohio"
This week on "The State of Ohio": State lawmakers consider what they can do in the wake of the horrible and yet miraculous escape story out of Cleveland involving three women held prisoner in a house for a decade. New data shows more than half of all violent crimes are committed by a very small numbers of offenders. Lawmakers are now working to target that tiny group. New law puts more state money toward low-interest home loans.
By Jo Ingles - February 4, 2005
There’s a new law in Ohio designed to help more first time, low income homebuyers get into their first homes. Republican representative Michelle Schneider says the agency that offers state assisted low interest home loans has become a quasi- public- private agency in order to have more money to offer loans. Governor Bob Taft signed the bill into law earlier this week. Advocates for low income housing are pleased with the new plan because it will reduce administrative costs that have cut into the amount the state can loan first time homebuyers.
