The battle for governor this year was remarkable for many reasons. Among them: the Republicans nominated an African-American, and Democrats nominated a congressman from Appalachia. Meanwhile, political junkies and activists from across the country had their eyes on Ohio, since it was a key swing state in 2004 and promises to be one again in 2008. This week, we’ve been featuring a series of year-in-review stories from our statehouse news bureau. And in Part Four, correspondent Bill Cohen helps us remember Ohio’s bitter contest for governor. |
