Secretary of State Jon Husted sent out around 7 million absentee ballot applications at the beginning of this month. He says more Ohioans are taking advantage of that option this year.

Husted says Ohioans are returning those absentee ballot request applications at a record pace.

“So far, we have had 524,000 absentee ballot requests which is 40,000 more than we had four years ago at this time.”

Husted says there isn’t one area of the state that is driving the higher numbers. He thinks the increase is due to more Ohioans being aware that they can vote by mail without leaving their homes.  If you want to vote in November but haven’t received an absentee ballot application, you need to check your voter registration. Some voters have been removed from the voter rolls for incorrect information or voter inactivity. The last day to register to vote is October 11th.
