Statehouse News Bureau

Former Gov. George Voinovich passed away nearly six months ago. A public memorial service honoring his life will be held at the Statehouse Wednesday night.

George Voinovich knew a lot of people around Capitol Square from serving in the legislature, as Mayor of Cleveland, Governor and U.S. Senator. After he died suddenly in June, hundreds turned out for his funeral in Cleveland. Now a public memorial service honoring his life is planned for the Statehouse Atrium from starting at 5. The memorial is happening while state lawmakers are in Columbus, trying to wrap up the lame duck session of this legislature by the end of this week.
