Part of Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine’s proposed budget involves spending $50 million dollars to lure new residents and businesses to Ohio, and to convince native Ohioans to return home.
As soon as DeWine announced that campaign as part of his budget, House Minority Leader Emilia Sykes tweeted. She said Ohio’s Republican leaders should quit passing laws that hurt women, people of color, the LGBTQ community and working families.
DeWine responded this way: “Ohio is a welcoming place. I don’t care who you are. We want you to come to Ohio. You know it’s a progressive state.”
While Democrats would dispute the use of that word, DeWine said Ohio is affordable and provided a great quality of life for families.
