Prominent Political Family Among Those Testifying For Medical Marijuana At Task Force Hearing

A former Ohio Supreme Court Justice, a Franklin County Commissioner and a Gahanna Local School Board member all came together for one purpose – to testify before an Ohio House task force studying medical marijuana.

Columbus resident Daryn Brown couldn’t be at the hearing. She was, once again, hospitalized after surgery. But her dad, former Ohio Supreme Court Justice Eric Brown, told the 15 member panel that patients like Daryn, who are in constant pain, deserve the option of medical marijuana.

“We request this task force to initiate and support legislation that will allow medical professionals to do their jobs, responsibly working with their patients to evaluate treatment options, weigh potential benefits and risks and make good decisions about their medical care.”

Brown was flanked by his wife, Franklin County Commissioner Marilyn Brown and their daughter, Beryl, as he urged lawmakers to give doctors the full ability to determine which patients might benefit from medical marijuana.
